There are few places where the view can literally grab you and take your breath away. Here in western Massachusetts, we have that very place. I’m talking of course about The Log Cabin, nestled on Mount Tom on the Holyoke-Easthampton line. It was here that we welcomed in the month of October, by celebrating the wedding of Katelyn and Jonathan.
It may have been the day for these two to finally say “I Do”, but they already shared an unbreakable bond, thanks to two very special people; Jonathan’s daughter and Katelyn’s daughter. These two girls came from different backgrounds and were total strangers until Katelyn and Jonathan met. But on this day, it was very clear to Adam and I that they were undeniably sisters.
When we started the day with Katelyn and her bridal party, the room was filled with laughter and love; oh and the colors of Fall! From the girls’ plaid pajama pants, to their flowers and even the rose that adorned the hanger which held Katelyn’s dress. Many say it’s the best season in New England and they embraced every aspect of it. You’ll notice as you scroll through the photos that Katelyn was not the only person in a wedding dress that day - her daughter had a little fun and stepped into Mom’s dress to try it! Absolutely adorable, and one of those cherished moments we love to capture. Once the team at Tres Chic Salon was finished with hair and makeup, the ladies got into their dresses, and prepared to help Katelyn get into hers. And believe me - she looked stunning!
While I was finishing up those intricate details, Adam was spending a little time with Jonathan. There are a few quiet nooks at the Log Cabin with old stone walls, where the natural light shines through the windows, making for a perfect light dramatic touch. So as the gentlemen tie their ties, fasten their cufflinks and make sure those boutonnieres are pinned on straight, we’re there to capture it.
So now that everyone’s dressed and the guests have arrived, you know what time it is! As Katelyn walked down the aisle, the reaction Jonathan had was as natural as it comes. There was emotion as he gazed at his soul mate. You could hear the love as they exchanged vows, sneaking a look at their daughters and family whenever they could.
After making sure we gathered their families for some great photos, against an impeccable backdrop, it was time to party! And that meant the night was now in the hands of none other than Bob Raina, one of the area’s best DJs! But first, we snuck into the reception room a little early of course to capture the continued theme of the day - Autumn in New England! The centerpieces and table décor were simple but sophisticated. A repurposed pallet made for a beautiful welcome sign in front of the fireplace. And what is a wedding without a cake - or in this case, a whole lot of delicious cupcakes courtesy of Valerie and her team at Frosted Swirl!
The party got rocking right away as Jonathan lifted his new bride off her feet during their entrance! A beautiful first dance was shared between the happy couple and if you notice, their daughters had a little fun too, trying to get those spoons to stick to their noses! But they weren’t the only ones having fun! We took the bride and groom outside for a series of photos that you can only get at The Log Cabin! The skies lit up for us on this night, so much so we even got them to take a fun jumping photo!
Back to the bond they shared with their daughters - take note of the dance Jonathan shared with his daughter, and the smiles on their faces as Katelyn looked on in admiration. And when the two girls and their parents shared a dance together - not a dry eye was in the room!
New England sunsets, the colors of Fall, great food, great drinks, sweet cupcakes and the love of a family that was clearly meant to be - that was Jonathan and Katelyn’s day. A day that will last a lifetime, and we are incredibly grateful to have been there.
