What do you get when you take a fun-loving couple, their closest family and friends and put them all together at a quintessential New England farm? You get a night that no one will ever forget! Pulling into the driveway at Quonquont Farm in Whately, MA is always the start to a great day. The setting is perfect and no matter the weather, it’s always beautiful! The rustic barn setting and beautiful outdoor pavilion is everything you want in a farm wedding. But before you get up to the barn and ceremony site, you’ll spend a little time inside the old farmhouse.
That’s where our day begins with Katie, her team of rockstar bridesmaids, Justine Therese working her magic with some amazing hairstyles, and Liz Washer on makeup! I got to work on the details with Katie’s jewelry, shoes, perfume and flowers, all set against her elegant invitation. We took some photos of Katie getting her hair done, in the beautiful natural light flowing in through the old farmhouse windows. Adam then went up to the barn and pavilion to capture a few scenic shots of the farm to add to the memories for Katie and Frankie.
When you have a dress as simple and stunning as Katie’s, and you’re in an old farmhouse, the opportunities are endless. We chose to hang the dress in a naturally lit doorway, alongside an old staircase, of course using Katie’s custom hanger. What a perfect backdrop! And how about Katie taking a moment to admire the dress – beautiful!
Let’s not forget about Frankie, looking sleek and sharp in a dark navy suit. A little natural light from the barn windows and those shadows perfectly accentuated his calm, cool & collected demeanor. Now that everyone was dressed, it was time for an intimate moment between Katie and Frankie. The anticipation on Frankie’s face was evident, as Katie slowly walked up to him. Frankie turned, and he was speechless with a huge smile when he saw Katie for the first time that day. A quiet moment, a few hugs and even a kiss or two for the happy couple, and it was off to take some portraits with the whole crew! There is no shortage of backdrops at Quonqunont Farm and we managed to use just about all of them! Variety is the spice of life and we wanted these two to have the full experience of the farm. After exploring and shooting all around the property, it was time to head to the barn. We spent a little time capturing the details of the tablescapes and settings before heading to the pavilion.
On a day full of bright sunshine, Katie and Frankie managed to time their ceremony perfectly with some soft cloud cover, creating a spectacular backdrop for the exchanging of vows, and maybe a little kiss or two! After some more portraits it was finally time to party! DJ Kevin Buynicki brought the beats and kept the dance floor packed all night long as these two families came together for two very special people. Katie and Frankie, you had a day and night that no one will ever forget! Thank you for having us there to capture the moments, and turn them into memories!
